People from all over Germany support the work of PEACE VILLAGE INTERNATIONAL. Our friends help in many ways, visiting "our" children in hospitals, promoting PEACE VILLAGE at information fairs, and taking on a host of different activities for the benefit of our institution. Our friends are important to us, particularly when the children are in hospitals, far from our main office. And, of course, friends are welcome as extra helping hands at the Village.
We call our groups of friends and volunteers "Circles of Friends" (Freundeskreise). Currently they are located in the cities of Berlin (Capitol), Hamburg, Oldenburg and Bremen in the northern part of Germany, Duisburg, Essen, Nordhorn and Cologne in the middle and Koblenz, Lahnstein, Ulm in southern Germany.
Three Coordination Centers are supporting PEACE VILLAGE throughout Germany:
Coordination Center in Sommerkahl
Coordination Center in Berlin
Coordination Center in Munich
What is the difference between the coordination centers and our "circles of friends"? It's easy to explain:
Our friends are volunteers, not getting payment and working in their free time beyond their jobs. The coordination centers are branches of the PEACE VILLAGE headquarter in Dinslaken. Just one staff member (in Sommerkahl two, who share one full-time job) of the village works in each center – not well paid by the way – and coordinates everything concerning PEACE VILLAGE's affairs, actually comparable with the work of our "Circles of Friends".
